Entertaiment is a word that means to amuse or divert; to provide pleasure, diversion, or amusement: The ball was a great entertainment. It also refers to an agreeable occupation for the mind, or a pleasant distraction: The daily crossword puzzle provides entertainment. It derived from the Latin intertenere, from the prefix inter meaning “inside” and the suffix -tenere, based on the Indo-European root ten, which meant to stretch or extend.
Many forms of entertainment tap into the points that the brain was evolved to deeply respond to. It stimulates the release of seratonin, dopamine and other chemicals. This makes it a good form of entertainment.
