Ford Model N

Originally, the Model N retailed for about $500, which was less than the curved-dash Oldsmobile. Its options list included twin side oil lamps, a horn, and leather seats. Its 10 gallon fuel tank meant it could go approximately 200 miles on rough roads. The Model N was considered a “practical car,” but many drivers didn’t appreciate its lack of refinement. Daimler-Maybach

Mercedes-Benz renamed the Maybach brand to Mercedes-Benz Motorenbau GmbH in 1969, but the brand was never discontinued. Its production began in 1890, and in 1892, the company made its first automobile. Daimler took time off to recover from heart problems and a trip to Florence, where he met Lina Hartmann, a widow 22 years his junior. They married on July 8, 1893, and honeymooned in Chicago during the World Fair.

In addition to producing luxury vehicles, Benz is also a top choice for commercial vehicles. It has a worldwide market share of over 20 percent, and is the world’s largest automotive brand.

Ford Motor Co.

Ford Motor Company is an American multinational automobile manufacturer headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan. It was founded by Henry Ford on June 16, 1903. The company manufactures vehicles under the Ford brand name as well as the luxury brand Lincoln. The Lincoln luxury brand is the company’s high-end line of automobiles. It employs around one million people worldwide. The Ford Motor Company has a strong global presence, and is the number one brand in the United States.

General Motors

General Motors is a major American automaker with diverse products. Initially, the company operated six divisions: Cadillac, Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac. Later, they consolidated into a single group that was essentially a parent company. By the early 1980s, General Motors’ brands were mostly interchangeable, with each brand selling the same cars, trucks, and vans. During this time, GM acquired several companies, including Electronic Data Systems Corporation and Hughes Aircraft Company.

The automobile industry’s retooling from civilian to wartime production took only 18 months. During the war, General Motors manufactured nearly a third of all trucks, and its other divisions produced $12.3 billion worth of defense materials.
