Entertaiment — the act or fact of entertaining; amusement, diversion, or enjoyment: the ball was an elaborate entertainment.

The word entertainment derives from the Medieval Latin intertenere, meaning to hold inside. The prefix inter means “inside,” and the suffix tenere is related to the Indo-European root ten, meaning to stretch or lengthen.

Something providing amusement, delight, or pleasure: an interesting puzzle; a performance, such as a play or opera. The word may also refer to an agreeable or diverting occupation for the mind: solving a crossword is an entertainment for many people. Entertainment is a way to stimulate the brain to realease seratonin and dopamine, and hit on themes that the human mind was evolved to deeply react to.
