Entertaiment is a broad category of amusement, but it also refers to any activity or experience that provides an aesthetic effect. It can range from a private selection of pre-recorded entertainment for one person, or an individual choosing an activity such as a sport or a social gathering, to a performance intended for a large audience, and even a global audience through the broadcasting of sports and events. Many forms of entertainment persist over time and change as their cultures and technology evolve, such as stage magic or the film industry. Often, entertainment has a serious intent, as in the case of ceremonies, celebrations and religious festivals.
